We strive to create sustainable communities through meaningful architectural design and collaborative discussion.

CSV Architects is an Ottawa-based architectural practice focused on the sustainable design of institutional, commercial, and multi-unit residential projects. Our vision is to create healthy, inclusive communities through architecture, collaboration, and innovation.

Designing ‘green’ buildings for over 20 years, CSV Architects is one of the most experienced sustainable architecture firms in the region. With a full-time, in-house sustainability consultant, we have the capacity to undertake renovations, design new buildings, and the adaptive re-use of existing establishments. We offer special expertise in sustainability consulting including LEED®, Green Globes, Net Zero, and Passive House in areas such as, child care centres, public use projects, care facilities, corporate offices, non-profit housing, and heritage conservation. Working alongside clients to meet their specific needs, we strive to create innovative, healthy, vibrant, and sustainable spaces for all to enjoy.

The practice has three principals: Anthony Leaning, Darryl Hood, and Jessie Smith, three directors, Richard Gurnham, Rick Kellner and Paolo Marinelli, three associates, Camille Lewis, Marc Mainville, and Alex Sargent, 19 technical staff members, and three full-time administrative staff. Ten team members are licensed architects with the OAA. We work closely as a team and have developed high standards of communication, project documentation, contract administration, and risk management.

To date, CSV has two LEED® Accredited Professionals, six Green Globes Professionals, and three Passive House Designers on staff. Our achievements in heritage conservation have been honoured with six Architectural Conservation Awards from the City of Ottawa and one Cornerstone Award for Building Heritage. One project architect is a CAHP Professional with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals. Our dedication to excellence in design has been recognized with two Awards of Excellence from the Ontario Association of Architects, the most recent in 2012 for the Rideau Canal Skateway Shelters.
